Directors

Here is a list of my favorite directors!!

  1. Alfred Hitchcock (he was an English film director and producer. He is one of the most influential and extensively studied filmmakers in the history of cinema. In 1925, Hitchcock directed his first film and began making the “thrillers” for which he became known the world over. His 1929 film Blackmail is said to be the first British “talkie.” In the 1930s, he directed such classic suspense films as The Man Who Knew Too Much and The 39 Steps. My personal favorites are Psycho and Birds)
  2. Quentin Tarantino (He an American filmmaker and actor. His films are characterized by nonlinear story lines, anesthetization of violence, extended scenes of dialogue, ensemble casts, references to popular culture and a wide variety of other films, soundtracks primarily containing songs and score pieces from the 1960s to the 1980s, alternate history, and features of neo-noir film. My favorite film is Pulp Fiction. The film that made Tarantino a household name is still a landmark, and for good reason. In many ways, it feels like Tarantino refines and expands upon the talent he showed in Reservoir Dogs. You’ve still got criminals in the black-and-white suits and they’re still shooting the shit on their way to do crimes, but there’s more depth and nuance to Jules and Vincent than any of the crooks from Tarantino’s first feature.)
  3. George Orson Welles (He was an American actor, director, writer and producer who is remembered for his innovative work in radio, theater and film. He is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. The stranger is one of his most famous and well liked films and it’s been said Welles made The Stranger in order to show he could work within the Hollywood system and as such, there’s a sense of the director toning it down somewhat with regards to visual flair. Nonetheless, the crime noir is definitely worth a mention as a truly gripping thriller, following an investigator from the War Crimes Commission as he travels to Connecticut to hunt down an infamous Nazi)
